Data Visualization

Human beings have never had as much data as they currently have today. The interweb contains hundreds of thousands of terabytes of information. Those numbers may tell the most tech-savvy reader the story if you stop long enough to read and process them, but very few people have time or ability to do [...]

I’m Reading Again

These last two weeks have been (thank God) much more relaxed than any two weeks I can remember in a long time.  I have, as a result, returned to reading for pleasure.
I rarely remember how much pleasure I actually do derive from reading.  I usually store it more as a little saying my mom made [...]

Feedburner?

I’ve decided to heed my own advice, and become even more serious. I’m testing out feedburner right now. A lot of people use it, and I’m interested to see what it provides. I’m not to hopeful, since I think Google’s purchase of it will lead to some changes in the near future.

The Microsoft Career Path

Chris Capossela, corporate vice president of the Microsoft Business Division Product Management Group, gave a lunch-time presentation and discussion today, detailing his experience with the Microsoft career ladder and ways to get ahead.  He actually focused on the lack of a career ladder, and explained that there were no ways to get ahead, per se.

Interning at Microsoft

For those of you who don’t know, I’m interning at Microsoft this summer. I’ll be working on a project called SharedView. The program, currently in Beta form, allows users to share documents, desktops and anything in between. I highly encourage you to check it out.
I’ve been assigned a very specific project within [...]

Don’t Do it, Gilbert

Word is that Gilbert is considering a little contract renegotiation (ESPN: Arenas says he’ll opt out of deal after 2007-08 season). That’s fine with me, as long as you don’t leave. I wouldn’t be able to handle that.
Know that I’m watching you carefully, Mr. Arenas.

The Latest Google vs. Microsoft Debate

The New York Times reports that Google has filed a complaint against Microsoft. Basically, Google contends that Microsoft’s new operating system discourages competition. Vista includes built-in search, which rivals Google’s program that indexes your desktop. Since Vista’s search cannot be turned off, Google’s ability to compete is threatened. That’s the gist [...]

Jeremy

Earlier, I told you all about openId. Jeremy Z. of Yahoo! fame agrees with me (actually chronologically speaking, I agree with him). I encourage you all to enable openId with your blogs, sites or whatever. I’m about to design a new site which I can’t tell you about, but I will make sure [...]
