Some of you may remember this. Most will not. But its time.
So now for a quick explanation. Before there was web 2.0, before Flickr, before YouTube, before internet content that normal users could edit, there was StrassDesign. As I became more and more interested in Web Design, I realized I needed a place to showcase my talents. I coded in HTML, then JavaScript, then PHP + MySQL in those days, and I needed a host that would allow me to do all that.
And StrassDesign was born. I originally had space on a site run by my good friend Carlos “Super Geek” Aguilar called fxstudios.net. As that site disappeared, I needed to showcase my talents.
Another friend, Kentaro Ikegami of kentaroikegami.blogspot.com fame. had been taking pictures of our “activities” for years. So, I created the precursor to facebook, or flickr, or really any other Web 2.0 site.
The original StrassDesign had a guestbook, a forum and, mostly famously, pictures. A user could upload as many as they would like, if they had an account, and I would process them, show them in galleries and slideshows, and do all kinds of great things.
Over the years, I outgrew web development and StrassDesign grew crusty. Now I’ve decided to put the pictures back. Many if not most will be offensive, and although I didn’t take the pictures, I worried for a while about their content. No more. History is what it is, no matter how offensive.
I give you, The Old Strasssdesign.
