I’m currently on a trip in Asia with 4 guys, so we have 5 digital cameras and 7 memory cards which have all of our pictures and videos from the trip. When we get back to the U.S., we will be going to Washington D.C., Nashville, Atlanta, Boston and Tokyo and we need a way to share all the pics etc from the trip. There are a million photo sharing sites, and a proper comparison is in order, but not here.
The answer I found is called http://www.bubbleshare.com/. It is entirely free and allows:
- unlimited picture uploads
- downloads of entire albums (as a zip file)
- an iPhoto plugin
- a Windows “bubblebar”
It also seems incredibly easy to use. For example, here are the steps to solve the problem my friends and I are facing:
- create an account (free) – http://www.bubbleshare.com/
- confirm your email by going and checking your email
- after you confirm, login to the site
- click “Create a New Album“
- Choose a name and upload your photos by clicking browse and choosing the pics
- after the upload finishes, make sure the settings are as you want them and click next.
- on the left, you will see a link to email the album (among other things). click email album
- type in the emails of your friends and click send. they will each get a link in the mail.
- that’s it!
There is one little thing that might trip up Windows users. There is no Windows upload tool, so you just click browse like the instructions say. Then, to select multiple pictures, use one of two ways: press ctrl-a to select all the pictures in a folder, or click one picture, press and hold shift, and then click another to select multiple pictures.
For the Mac people, you can use the iPhoto plugin to automatically upload from iPhoto. Download it from http://www.bubbleshare.com/tools. I don’t have access to a mac right now so I can’t poperly test it. Let me know how it works.
