We met up with Matt, our contact in Casper. We put our stuff at his parents house and got ready for the night. We watched Phelps win his 8th gold, which was kind of cool, and then met two of Matt’s friends and headed out. Dwayne, one of the friends, drove a pickup which he had haphazardly parked on the lawn. We all piled in and drove in toward town.
We stopped at a place called the Beacon (where Cowboys go sneakin’), which was basically a big barn in the middle of which stood a large dance floor. The live band played country music, and everyone danced along. Mostly people had cowboy boots and shirts tucked into their jeans. They were two-steppin all over the floor. One guy in particular stood out, as he had a different woman on his arm each time he made his wild turn all around the dance floor. There were a few other characters there as well.
Greg was the first to try his luck on the floor, and after much resistance, Seve and I also had a go. I must say, country dancing just ain’t my thing. We had a blast though, and a whole slew of people wound up coming back to Matt’s house for a little after party. I showed these old people how to play a little pong and after a little late night/early morning breakfast, hit the sack at around 7:30am.
