I ordered groceries online on sunday. It was a long weekend and I couldn’t possibly have gone to the grocery store. So I watched football, sat on my couch, and ordered my groceries.
I used a newish service from Amazon called Amazon Fresh, currently available only in the Seattle area. I get to walk through the aisles without moving. Their website is quick and easy and it uses my Amazon account info, so there was almost no setup required.
I ordered at about 11 am and it will arrive at 8pm, though I could’ve gotten it earlier. The guy arrived with my bags, and all I had to do was bring them to the elevator and press 8 for my floor. The whole process didn’t require more than about 25 minutes of my time, most of which was spent deciding which cereal I should buy. If you live in the area, I recommend that you try Fresh.
You are probably thinking that I’m a lazy bum, and you may be right. But I’ve been meaning to go grocery shopping for two weeks, and I couldn’t have gone another day without food. So…I did it.
I did this a few times back in college, where it makes even more sense. The biggest reason for needing my car junior year was to go to Shaw’s. With Peapod, I didn’t really need it as much senior year. As lazy as it might seem, it’s how my generation lives. Kind of weird, I know. But it’s a new world.
