App prediction: A better web creator

I think there is a market for an easy-to-use website creator.  I hear that iWeb tries to do it, but it is not simple enough yet.  A lot of people want a Web 1.0 site, that is, a few static pages and maybe a couple of images.  They don’t need anything fancy or dynamic, just enough info to have an online presence for their organization.

For instance, a friend of mine started a company called Encountour.  He ran into potentially the most frustrating problem any web developer faces, which is making the HTML code look right.  He used iWeb to create the site, and it looks great, but he used raw images instead of text to make everything look right.  Now using images brings up a whole slew of real problems (slow page load, Google can’t index your site, people can’t copy text and email each other about how cool your site and many more).  Josh has no way of knowing about those, though, and would rather have a site than not.  Still, I think he would pay for iWeb to do a better job of creating real HTML for him.  He paid for iWeb after all.
