I got an email the other day from this guy which he signed “TIA”.  Here’s the email (basically):

From: Some Guy 
Sent: Monday, December 08, 2008 12:31 PM
To: Some List
Subject: Looking for ride to a place

Hello, Commuters!

My destination is blah blah blah.

I can leave any time after 3PM (maybe a little earlier too).

TIA!

Now of course he meant Thanks in Advance.  For anyone my age who has seen Blood Diamond, TIA means This is Africa.  For a small group of my friends, it means This is Asia, or America, or wherever we happen to be, as long as it starts with A.

Anyway I thought it was amusing and illustrated a funny cultural divide.  In this day and age I expect to see a lot more happenings like this.
